Catalina Ponor: Retired.
Catalina Ponor, an amazing Romanian gymnast, is now retired. We said goodbye to Cata as a gymnast when she left the North Greenich Arena. Catalina kinda ended her gymnastics career on a disappointing note: Losing her floor and beam titles to Aly. Well, Aly did not win the beam final, but she did knock Cata out of the medals. But, Catalina had one more chance to keep her title: Catalina had won the gold medal in floor in Athens, but then, Aly delivered a dynamic floor routine with a 15.600 floor routine, Catalina tried to snatch the title from Aly, but only got a 15.200, Romanian fans everywhere devastated. So, Cata didn't retire on the best note, leaving with no beam medals, and a floor silver. But the one thing she would remember: Winning the team bronze, and medaling as a Romanian team for the 10th time in a row. And even though Cata did not have the best Olympics, she didn't defend her titles, didn't win team gold, we will still be proud of her and remember her forever. Congrats Cata! We will always remember you! Congrats on wrapping up a brilliant career as a gymnast.
