Harsh Realities: Is Jordyn Wieber Coming Back?

So, Kyla Ross and McKayla Maroney are still continuing in the sport of gymnastics. And one more Fierce Five member has confirmed her return, and that is my personal favorite gymnast, Alexandra Raisman of Brestyan's Gymnastics. Jordyn Wieber has also talked of a comeback last September, but has not said anything since. So, she lets the gymnastics world assume that she is happy with her assistant coaching gig at UCLA, and does not love competing anymore, but I am not one of those people. I believe that Jordyn will come back, just because of her disappointment in 2012. But I can not predict the future. But even I, gymnastics expert, can not read the mind of Gymnastics Royalty Jordyn Wieber. Time will tell, Jordyn will tell.

Judging Her Gymnastics: Jordyn Wieber

Jordyn Wieber was a great all-around gymnast, she won everything she entered up until the 2012 Olympic All-around. With her being retired, for the moment at least, its time to judge her gymnastics.

What I liked: Jordyn was an amazing power athlete. She did some of the most difficult tumbling in the whole entire world, from her Amanar on vault to her double double on floor (Two flips, two twists) Jordyn had the perfect amount of power. She even had outstanding artistry on beam. Jordyn was a fearless athlete. She didn't let risk of injury stop her from attempting the big stunts. Thats what I liked about Jordyn: No fear.

What I didn't like: The only thing I didn't like was that her bars were weak, Jordyn often missed handstands on bars, which is one of the most important parts of the apparatus, and often had that lower back arch.

Jordyn was an amazing power athlete, and she thinks she will skip a year or two of college and enroll later just to focus o on her redemption: If Jordyn makes the Rio team, she will get into the all-around. Jordyn WILL win.

The Sportsmanship Award: Team USA

Gold Medals, Silver Medals, Bronze Medals, those are all GREAT to win, but what about the sportsmanship award? Those are the absolute greatest to win. They define a single gymnast on the team. On the USA team, we have a tie! A tie between Aly Raisman and Jordyn Wieber. I could not decide! So, I decided to do both, here are the reasons why I nominated both

1. Aly Raisman- She lost the bronze all-around medal to Aliya Mustafina, and was still happy. She shook Gabby's, Viktoria's, and Aliya's hands when she saw them on the sidelines. And in the floor final, when she won gold, she did not gloat! She shook the hands of the 2-8th place finishers. She hugged Jordyn when her last chance at an individual medal slipped away. When she grabbed the bronze on beam above Catalina Ponor, she gave her a hug and said "It will be ok" Aly is a co-champ because of that reason

2. Jordyn Wieber- She missed out on the all-around final, and after crying for a few minutes, she congratulated Gabby and Aly for making it. And most importantly, she came back like a bouncy ball in the team final, and pushed her team to gold, sticking every landing, swinging bars, doing tumbling, her artistry apparent. She was amazing.

Jordyn Wieber: Trying again

So, Jordyn did not make it to the all-around (Cough cough, thanks Gabby) But, with Gabby retried, Jordyn can snatch that position in the all-around. Jordyn is training at UCLA's gym now, but is not part of the team because she forfeited her college scholarship to go elite. I am excited to see Jordyn competing on National/International levels again, and I bet you guys are too! So, lets give Jordyn some support, and egg her to return! Lets go Jordyn Wieber! We believe in you!

2 Per Country Rule: Awesome or totally sucky?

I personally hate the 2 per country rule. Thats what x-ed Jordyn out at a shot at Olympic stardom, the 2-per-country rule. I think that the gymnastics officials around the World should get together and and ban the two-per-country rule. If they had done that, Jordyn would have been on the podium, but NOOOOOOO! They had to keep the 2 per rule. I think they should change it, and that would make Jordyn, and maybe even Aly, come back. So Marta, if you want the two best gymnasts (In My Opinion) in the US come back, then try changing the two-per-country rule! It would benefit USA Gymnastics, and get more gymnasts into the running to make you proud Marta!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Fierce Five: Who's planning for Rio and Who is Not?

So, its 2014, its Sochi, the winter games, but for all those people who hate the winter games, and are hooked on gymnastics, its the halfway point between the Summer Games, the ones that actually matter! Anyway, two years ago, the Fierce Five won gold, and now, at the halfway point between the great 2012, and Rio 2016, we got to wonder: Are any of the Fierce Five planning for Rio? I would love to see them in Rio, winning team gold yet again, but who wants to return and who doesn't?

Jordyn Wieber: She wants to get into the All Around Finals.
Aly Raisman: Aly is an amazing gymnast, making the All-Around in 2012, finishing in 4th, losing to Mustafina, Dang It! But thats why she is coming back to Rio, to defend her floor gold and beam bronze, and to crack into the AA medals.
Gabrielle Douglas: She won the gold medal in London, she doesn't need to train anymore! All her dreams came true!
Kyla Ross: Like her best friend, McKayla Maroney, Kyla wants to return for the 2016 Games. She did contribute to team USA's gold medal finish. But, she did not make the All-Around or any other event, so that what she hopes to do in Rio.
McKayla Maroney: Maroney is back, we know that, she never quit. Mostly because she wanted to go to Rio to get redemption. She fell on her second vault, costing her the vault gold, and starting the world-wide-known look as "McKayla Maroney Not Impressed" But, in 2016 Mac wants to be impressed she wants that gold medal.
