Kyla Ross: Senior Dominant

So in 2012, Kyla Ross was a first year senior. We first saw her at the Classic, where she had a somewhat rocky first competition. We next saw Kyla when she competed at Nationals, placing 4th in the all around, not to shabby for a new-year senior. She also got the silver medal on her best event, bars. She also placed fourth on beam and fifth on floor. But didn't place at all in the vault, because vault was not her best event. But at trials, Kyla did make the Olympic Team, when she was a first year senior.  Which was amazing for a gymnast of her status, if you look at the rest of the Olympic Team: Gabby Douglas, Jordyn Wieber, Aly Raisman, and McKayla Maroney, who had already been seniors for at least one year (With Aly starting a year earlier in 2010) Kyla was the little one on the team, she was mentored by Aly, most of all because she was a 2010 and 2011 Worlds Team Member. Kyla did not compete the all around, but just floor, beam and bars. After winning the gold medal for USA along with her team, she chilled for awhile, that is until the competition season started she came back and earned a whole wall of silver (Most of them silver, but they are still medals) Kyla had a great first year senior debut, making an Olympic Team. And I am very excited to see what is to come for this young athlete.

USA Gymnastics: Domination 2012

We all remember London 2012 right? The Olympics, Michael Phelps winning the gold. This is not a swimming blog, its a gymnastics blog, so lets talk about that. Not only did the USA win team gold with the Fierce Five. A lot of the Fierce Five won individual medals, shooting them way high in the medal count. Team Gold won by the Fierce Five, Vault Silver won by McKayla Maroney, All-Around Gold by Gabby Douglas, Beam Bronze by Aly Raisman, and Floor Gold by Aly Raisman (Aly left as the most decorated gymnast on the US Side, both men and women. The USA has such a strong hold on gymnastics right now that it is unbelievable. And until Rio 2016, they will continue to have this amazing hold on the sport. The USA hasn't rocked the sport since 1996 since the Magnificent Seven won gold. They rocked the sport, and are still rocking it with fresh senior Simone Biles,  Fierce Five Members Kyla Ross and McKayla Maroney, Simone getting into every final, and medaling in almost all of them at the Worlds, Kyla Ross medaling silver in almost every final that she got into, and McKayla Maroney winning vault gold, setting a record for team USA, a record that only team US has. Defending a Worlds Title. I believe that that was Maroney's redemption. That she is redeemed, but still will try for Rio De Janeiro and try to steal the vaulting gold. But overall, USA has had a strong hold on the sport, and will have it forever.

Nastia Liukin: What went wrong in 2012?

Nastia Liukin, 2008 Olympic All-Around Champ, wanted to try to go to London back in 2012. But, some things went wrong, cutting Nastia from the team. But, for all you people who know squat about gymnastics and are always asking this question: What went wrong? I will tell you what went wrong in the events

2012 Classic: Nastia was dressed to impress Marta, but she only competed on beam, and had a shaky routine, not impressing Marta, because she was only competing on one event, and it was not at its prime

2012 Nationals: Luckily, Nastia added bars, or was it lucky? Because, at the Visas, Nastia competed on bars, and had a huge struggle with her Pak Salto transition. She lost the combination, had to take extra spins around the bar, exhausting her, and making her do a simple, elementary dismount.

2012 US Trials: On Beam, Nastia stumbled on her side summie, making her lose balance, stumble around the beam for 20 seconds, and making her rush to catch up in the routine. On bars, Nastia missed handstand, and her legs folded, and because Nastia is not a power gymnast, she does not have as much endurance as that of a power gymnast, so Nastia had trouble handling the dismount, and not to mention that she fell on a Jaegar, and on her dismount.
