Vault Chat: The Pordunova

   There is this vault, this vault that has only been performed exceptionally by one gymnast, and that gymnast is the woman who got this vault named after her, Elena Pordunova. The Pordunova is a double tuck vault. After Elena Pordunova retired. no one was able to perform the vault as beautifully as she did. One gymnast tried it at the Worlds stage, her name is Yamilet Pena Abreu. She has not landed it since the 2012 Zibo Cup. At the 2012 Zibo she landed the vault fairly well, I would give it a 5. She did win gold at the 2012 Medellin. But she never performed the vault well afterwards. The vault has amazing difficulty, if you hit it, you win it, but if you miss it, you're done like dinner. No one has ever hit the Pordunova as well as Russian great Elena Pordunova. And probably never will. But I am scouting the competitions for great talent on this vault. And when I find it, I will blog about it.

Yamilet Pena Abreu: What she needs to do if she wants to keep doing the Pordunova

    I have stressed in my past articles about how bad Abreu from the Dominican Republic is at the Pordunova vault. As mad as I am at Abreu, I have to hand it to her, she has persistence. But if Abreu wants to become a better gymnast, I think she should try doing the All-Around, her power will help her on floor and vault, and she would need to practice on beam and bars. because of artistry. And grace, but if Abreu wants to keep doing that vault, she needs to become an all-arounder so she does not wreck her career as a gymnast. Before watching qualifications, in London, I had never heard of Abreu, probably because she can't land a vault.

Yamilet Pena Abreu accused of murdering the Pordunova vaut

 So, we all know Yamilet Pena Abreu right? She has entered soooo many vaulting finals, and has never medaled. Want to know why? Because she is doing a vault that is BEYOND her capability level. So, amongst the gymnastics worlds, we accuse Abreu of murdering the Pordunova vault. She never lands it, and frankly, it is a health risk. She can seriously injure herself if she lands the vault wrong, she can blow out an ACL, or even break her leg!!!!!!!!!!!! I am basically saying, Abreu, if you are reading this, please stop doing the vault! You have beat it with your butt! (Because she always lands on her butt LOLZ. But seriously, either stop, or become an All-Around gymnast so you can cushion the blow of your failure. I saw her on floor, she has a lot of raw potential.
